Day 13

Pictures from yesterday. Now we are getting ready for a new day :-)

half our new bed
Harald was very brave the whole day. Didn't hide down by his tree as the other day- but was exploring and making himself at home. At the end of the day he got chased by the other cats and was balancing on the balcony above the dog.

Day 11

We are now at day 11. Yesterday we made sure to take lots of pictures.
Nicola that has been staying in our apartment has found a new place to stay so now his room is all empty. I even took the curtens down. We fill the car everytime we go to the chruch, so our last day here we will not have so much left to bring- we hope.

Doing some fixing up before putting a second coat of paint.
Here we will have a table.

Nasia was cooking us a great meel with cream meatballs.
Where our bed will be.
Dominic was not only giving us a good deal for the floor.
He was also helping us putting it in!

Day 9

Ok, now we have started painting the caravan without doing anything with the insulation. Nasia and Lena did the painting- first coat is done. Kenneth was making "feets" for the caravan so that it will stand more stable- and it does make a huge differens! He also made some stairs so that we don't have to do some gymnastic exercises to get in. And! we got a good deal for our floor. Was looking online at a shop on the mainland that had "click floor" for 28€ per m2. Then you also have to pay to get the car across with the ferry. But now next to our camper a carpenter lives, and he gave us a floor for 10€ per m2! And no ferryride needed! We got it delivered to our caravan and he even offered himself to come and help us tomorrow! This will make a big differens and then atleast we will have some insulation from the floor. God is good.
Tomorrow we'll make sure to take some pictures so you can see the progress we made.

Day 9

Now it's Tuesday morning and we are getting ready for new adventures at our caravan.
Ok, to put the cover up was something that took more time then I expected! I (Lena) had in my mind to get it up there in maybe an hour... But hours later I knew better... But we got other bits and pieces done aswell yesterday. Kenneth was done with the film (a commercial) and took it to the camping and they liked it (of course). I was moving some things from the kitchen and making a mess in the church... Started to clean and make space in the cupboards but then I had to go so it's all over the place now (I hope no one is planing to use the kitchen today- but me that should go there and clean).
After we wrote the post the other day we have had a lot of thoughts forth and back whether to actually reinsulate the caravan or not. Last thing said is that we are not... We'll see by the end of the day. Now it's time for some action!

Day 6

Now the pergola is done, only have to put up the actuall cover that will give our caravan some nice and cool shade... at least it want be as warm we hope. And next week we will be bussy making the insulation to not make it to cold in the winter... We have now decided to take the walls out, check if the present insulation is fine (no mold or stuff), put it back and put some new and then put the old walls back (if they last our test). Then we only have to paint and so put our bed, benches and cupboards back... Well Nasia has already started helping us painting the cupboards.

We took Harald with us to see his new home. He didn't like it at all! There was lots of cats that didn't know anything about hospitality and a very scary dog. Well we hope he keep away from the dog, he has already killed a few cats...
These tomatos are growing next to our new "bedroom" (the caravan). Aren't they beautiful!

(took the pictures yesterday- day 6)

day two

Harald on the beach. last summer
Day two in our project- making the caravan our home- didn't give much reward.
We're missing the material that we are used to from Sweden. They don't have the same stuff in the shops here!
So today we spent a lot of hours just trying to figure out how we can make it instead.
But we did buy some things, nothing that we could use though because we are still missing other things.
Then it was to hot to work in the day and to dark to work in the night (we tryed it both).

Anyway, putting a nice picture of our cat from last summer because even though we didn't get far with our projekt our cat is still our joy and actually we did got some other things done. Kenneth is working on a commercial for a camping on the island. Lena has been babysitting a 3 month old baby! super lovely!

Making the caravan our home

This past year we have been living in an beautiful apartement on the top floor overwieing the roofs and the acropolis of Limenas. It's been a big and nice apartment, good for hosting friends and family.
But it's not ours for much longer... In two weeks we are moving out.

What it looks like right now we will from September on sleep in our caravan and use the church in the daytime.
The caravan is not much like a home at the time so this coming week we will have lots to do. But it's fun. We're not sure what it all will look like in the end but somehow I belive God will help us put everything in order. We have to fit our stuff in the church with the things allready going on there, decide what to bring to the camper and our cat has to learn to live with a bunch of more or less wild cats that already lives at Pelidis house.
Trying to figure out how to fix the heating system.

The caravan has been at our pastor Dimitris house since we came here. It's for some time been used as a music studio where Michalis have had his drumes. The kids also slept there some nights. Some time ago Kenneth together with Michalis was starting to empty it to make more space.
Now we want to make it a bit more isolated and nicer so we have been emptying the last bits and tomorrow when the stores are open again we will go to find material- something for the floor, isolation, wood and paint. Have to go with the flow and use what is a available to a resonable price.
Then when we fixed that we will put cupbords, bed, table back again and make it our home.
